
Babalwa Mavuso, professionally known as Babalwa M, is a vocalist and songwriter. Born and raised in Soweto Pretoria Glen, her musical journey began in her early teens as a member of a church choir. Despite completing a diploma in Media and Journalism, her passion for music led her to pursue it as a career after her studies.
Babalwa M has collaborated with a host of talented artists, including De Mthuda, Mas Musiq, YUMBS, Mphow69, and Xolani Guitars, before partnering with DJ and producer Kelvin Momo. The 2020 national lockdown provided her with a focused period to create, leading to the release of her EP 'Bayeke' featuring Kelvin Momo. She was also featured on Kelvin Momo's albums, 'Momo's Private School' (2020) and 'Ivy League' (2021).
In 2021, she released her own album, 'Aluta Continua', an amapiano project with soulful sounds and emotional harmonies that featured artists like Xolani Guitars, Kelvin Momo, Yumbs, and Mphow69. The following year, she featured on Sam Deep's award-winning track "Kusezo Khanya," which quickly garnered over a million views on YouTube.
Hailed as the "QUEEN OF PRIVATE SCHOOL AMAPIANO," Babalwa M has solidified her position as a significant voice in the Amapiano genre.
Her work includes platinum-certified collaborations such as "Inhliziyo" with Mas Musiq and "Kusezo Khanya" with Sam Deep.
2024: Released the 'Pisces' EP and her second studio album, 'Candour', which featured chart-topping singles like "Bo Thata" and "Diala Ngothando."
